Your Guide to Buying Business Hardware!

Apr 2, 2025

Windows 10 End of Life is October 2025!

If you need to replace some outdated computers before October, here are some tips for buying business computers.

  • Get Windows 11 Pro for business use. Why? Windows 11 Pro offers advanced security features and tools including encryption, remote desktop, Hyper-V, Group Policy Management, domain join, advanced updating controls, device management, enterprise state roaming, assigned access, and dynamic provisioning. Home does not.
  • Match the workload to the performance. Too small and you will be replacing a computer due to lag years earlier. Too big and you will be spending money on resources that you aren’t using. You want “just right” to match the workload to the performance.
  • Match the warranty with the expected hardware replacement lifecycle. If you plan to upgrade your computer every year you only need a one-year warranty. Most companies replace computers on a three-year hardware lifecycle and would want a three-year warranty. If you are only replacing computers every five-years get a five-year warranty.
  • Get a trusted brand. Dell, Lenovo, and HP are the top brands in desktops and laptops. Other brands can be inconsistent with good or bad batches of computers depending on the computer model, manufacturing location, and date of manufacture. Is it worth taking a chance with something so critical to your business?
